Meetings will be held in Room 432 of the Physics Building.

Traveling to UC Davis

By Air

Sacramento International Airport (SMF)

The Sacramento International Airport is very convenient for traveling to UC Davis, with direct flights to many US cities.  It's about a $40-50 Lyft or Uber ride from the airport to Davis, and because the hotel is within walking distance of the meeting room, renting a car may not be necessary.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

If you are flying internationally, you might be forced to fly to San Francisco International Airport.  If you rent a car, the drive from there to Davis is 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on traffic, while a Lyft ride is $140-$150.  Another option is to take the BART to Richmond and transfer to the Capital Corridor Amtrak to downtown Davis (Google Maps will give you the details).  This costs about $35 and takes 2.5-3 hours, depending on the schedule.  Unfortunately, the Davis Airporter shuttle service no longer operates.

By Car

Davis is just off of I-80 about 20 miles West of Sacramento.  Follow Google Maps directions to your hotel (see below) or "UC Davis Visitor Parking Lot 46 (or 2)".

By Train

The Davis Train station is located about 1 mile from the Physics Building and is serviced by Amtrak.  The Capital Corridor line connects to the BART at Richmond and might be a reasonable option for people coming from the Bay Area.

Lodging

There are several hotels in and around Davis.  We are planning to block rooms at a reduced rate at the following:

  • Hyatt Place: just off of campus and a short walk from the Physics Building. A bit isolated from town.
    • $199/night, includes free parking and breakfast
  • University Park Inn and Suites: near I-80.  About a 1 mile (very pleasant) walk to the Physics Building.
    • $142/night (or cheaper), includes free parking

Parking

Both hotels have free parking.  Hyatt Place is roughly as close to the Physics Building as the parking lot.  University Park is about one mile away.  If you are driving...

We can arrange for parking passes.  Please email Eric Prebys ASAP if you need one.

Dinners

There will be two hosted dinners during the meeting:

  • 6PM Sunday:  Mamma Restaurant in downtown Davis.  Within walking distance of the Physics Building and the hotels.
  • 6PM Monday:  The Pilothouse Restaurant at the Delta King, in old Sacramento after the tour of the venue.
